Getting a New Shower Stall and Repairing Water Damage as Well

Being clean is something that every person strives for. Whether you are going to work, or going out to the pub, there is the compulsion to be clean and to smell clean. This is just a part of normal hygiene. Nobody would want to be near a guy who smells bad and seems not to have taken a bath or shower recently. Especially not in a crowded pub or on public transport. Taking care of yourself in a presentable manner is just common courtesy.

There are several reasons a person might not take a bath. Almost none of these are acceptable. Although for some, having an antiquated bath or shower is one reason not to take a bath. If you don’t like your bath or shower stall, then you should get a new one.

Shower stalls and heads are typically installed with the house or apartment. The owner usually doesn’t care how old it is, as long as it is still working. Admittedly, it is a waste to just change a showerhead simply because it is old. However, when we are talking about a whole shower stall or even shower pods, there are other items to consider.

  • Leaks. If the pipes are old, this is a great time to check the pipes for leaks. Some city houses are very old and may still have their original plumbing. If that is the case, an inspection will show where the leaks are located. It can save the homeowner a big amount of money due to water lost.
  • Moulds and mildew. Every house and building has moulds and mildew. There is no secret to getting rid of them. The only thing you can do is to make sure that there are no areas with high humidity and moisture where moulds and mildew start forming. If you have mould infestation, seek the assistance of the proper authorities.
  • Waterproofing. There are sometimes water stains on the ceilings or the walls of houses. These are usually under the new wallpaper and are not visible to strangers. With proper waterproofing, the water will not seep through and ruin the paint. In addition, moulds and mildew will not get a foothold due to the water seepage. If you are going to install shower pods, then you need waterproofing for the walls and the flooring.

If you have a shower or a bath that is older than 50 years, you should consider inspection and eventual removal of moulds and mildew. They can be irritating to young children and old people. While you are at it, you should also take a look at upgrading your shower stall. A new shower pod can make your bathroom look modern. At the same time, it is a good reason for you to renovate the bathroom.
